안녕하세요. 이번에 소개시켜드릴 부산국제광고제 수상작은

Innovation 부문에서 glod 를 수상한 COGY Wheelchair입니다.

 

일본에는 약 200만명의 거동이 불편한 환자들이 있는데

이들은 회복을 필요로 하지만 포기하고 있죠.

그들에게 있어 휠체어는 단순히 이동에 도움이 되는 도구일 뿐입니다.

지난 2천년 동안, 이러한 현실은 바뀌지 않았는데요.

하지만 조금만 생각을 달리하게 된다면 이러한 현실이 바뀌지 않을까요?

휠체어는 당신의 다리를 다시 움직이게 도와 줄 수 있는

열쇠가 될 수 있을 것입니다.

 

그래서 우리는 새로운 프로젝트를 한번 더 전개하기 시작했습니다.

일본 국립 도호쿠 대학의 명예 교수는

움직이는 다리는 척추에 위치한 원시적 모터 반사를 자극함으로써

움직이게 된다는 것을 발견했는데요.

새롭게 발명 된 휠체어는 이 원리에 의해 만들어지게 되었습니다.

 

움직임을 최대한 쉽게 촉진하고 지속적으로 보존하기 위해

좌석 등받이는 매우 낮은 고도로 설계되었으며 페달은 매우 낮게 설계되었는데요.

작동 방식은 이렇습니다. 먼저  작은 힘이 페달을 밀어내고

이 움직임은 사용자들의 원시적 운동 근육 반사를 자극하게 됩니다.

반사는 반대쪽 다리를 움직이게 하고 따라서 자전거 동작을 생성하여

사용자를 위한 6x7세대 이동 동작을 하게 되는데요.

이 기술은 자신들이 스스로 나아가기 위해 자신의 다리에

반사 작용을 할 수 있게 해줍니다.

 

그래서 COICISE는 사용자에게 두 가지의 재활 가능성을 제공하는데요.

 

첫 번째는 신체 재활이고 두 번째는 심리적 재활입니다.

 

그들이 사용자들에게 제공하는 희망은

그들이 삶에 대한 새로워진 열정과 행복을 가지고 있다는 것을 의미하는데요.

이로 인해 일부 사용자들은 일본을 여행하거나 직장으로 돌아가는 것과 같은

새로운 꿈을 표출하기도 했습니다.

이 캠페인이 진행되고 난 후 판매 대수는 전년도보다 두 배 이상 증가하여

점점 더 많은 환자들이 COICISE를 사용하게 되었으며

스탠포드 대학교의 의학 연구 기관들에서도 인정되었다고 하네요.

COICISE는 아직 의료 기기로 등록되지 않았으므로,

메시지에 있는 어떠한 임상 데이터나 재활 치료/재활 효과를 확신하지는 못하지만 이 휠체어는 많은 움직이지 않는 사람들에게

자신의 다리를 다시 움직일 수 있는 능력을 주고 있습니다.

 

 

작은 변화의 시도가 큰 변화의 시작이 된다는 것

이 캠페인을 통해 다시 한 번 느낄 수 있었던 것 같습니다.

COGY Wheelchair

 

There are approximately 2 million immobile patients in Japan who require rehabilitation but give up on it. These people are known as ‘Rehabilitation Refugees’ in Japan.

For them, wheelchairs are mere “support tools” that will assist them in mobility.

For the past 2,600 years, this fact has been the convention of the world.

Can this reality not be changed? Couldn’t your wheelchair be the key to help you move your legs again?

The COGY project has started to deliver the joy of mobility once more to these people.

Honorary Professor Handa of the National Tohoku University of Japan has discovered that by stimulating the primitive motor reflex located in the spine, even immobile legs are spurred into movement by “reflex”. To instigate and perpetuate this reflex movement with the greatest of ease, the COGY seating is designed very low and its pedals are ultra-light.

How it works:

1. The slightest force pushes the pedal forth.

2. This movement stimulates users’ primitive motor reflex in the spine.

3. The reflex causes the opposite leg to move as well, creating a cycling motion and hence, self/leg-generated movement for the user.

COGY allows the users themselves to harness the reflexes in their own legs to propel themselves forth. COGY offers two rehabilitation possibilities for the users. First is physical rehabilitation, while the second is psychological rehabilitation. The hope that COGY gives its users means they have a renewed zest for life, and happiness. Some users even expressed renewed ambitions such as traveling around Japan or going back to work.

Units sold increased to more than twice from the year before, with more and more patients switching to COGY.

Recognition of COGY spread overseas, which included a query from Stanford University’s medical research bodies.

COGY has still not been registered as a medical device, so therefore it cannot be communicated with any clinical data or rehabilitation/therapeutic effects in messaging. However COGY is giving many immobile persons the ability to move their own legs again. Collecting their actual voices and conveying this was a way to bypass restrictions placed on communication.
