TBWA 하쿠호도(TBWA⧵HAKUHODO)가 출품한 일본 홋카이도의 사라후츠 마을과 플라스틱 전문 제조업체 코시 화학공업이 함께 개발한 업사이클링 헬멧 ‘SHELLMET’은 조개를 뜻하는 Shell과 헬멧(Helmet)의 합성어로 외부 충격으로부터 자신을 보호하는 조개껍데기와 헬멧의 본질을 파악해 연결시킨 것입니다.

 

캠페인 탄생의 이유는, 일본 최대 가리비 생산지인 홋카이도 사라후츠 마을이 엄청난 양의 가리비 껍데기를 해결하지 못해 토양오염 및 악취로 골머리를 앓았기 때문인데요.

 

이를 해결하기 위해 가리비 껍데기와 리사이클 플라스틱을 활용해 내구성 높은 신소재를 만들고, 내구성 높은 헬멧으로 재탄생시켜 환경오염 해결에 기여한 점이 높은 인정을 받아 공익광고 부문 최고상인 Grand Prix of the Year를 수상하게 되었습니다.

What if you could turn waste into something useful and beautiful? SHELLMET is a helmet made from scallop shells, a waste product of Sarufutsu Village in Japan.

 

The campaign by TBWA\HAKUHODO and Koushi Chemical Industry Co., Ltd. created a new material and a helmet brand that promotes sustainability and social responsibility.

 

SHELLMET won the Grand Prix of the Year in the SDGs Stars at MAD STARS 2023.
